Almonds
The benefits of applying Acadian Plant Health™ (APH™) seaweed extract products on almonds are well documented. As with other crops, applications made during the establishment period increase root and shoot growth resulting in a stronger tree that is able to take up more nutrients and water. Strong growth during the establishment period ensures a lifetime of almond tree productivity. Yield is improved by increasing nut set and size.
BENEFITS FOR ALMONDS INCLUDE:
- Improved early establishment
- Increased nutritional uptake
- Improved resistance to environmental stresses
- Enhanced overall yield and quality
SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN, FIELD-TESTED SOLUTIONS
EARLY ESTABLISHMENT
ALMOND FIELD TRIAL ‘NONPAREIL’
CALIFORNIA, USA
During the first season in the field, trunk diameter increased by 11% in almond trees treated with APH™ seaweed extract compared to the Control (grower standard program). A larger trunk diameter at early development stage indicates faster establishment, which leads to a more productive orchard.
IMPROVED STRESS RESISTANCE
ALMOND FIELD TRIAL ‘NONPAREIL’
CALIFORNIA, USA
Water stress in almonds can negatively impact yield by reducing photosynthesis and causing nut drop. Scientists assess the extent of water stress by measuring stem water potential. A more negative water potential indicates a higher degree of water stress. Applying an APH™ seaweed extract improved the water status of the treated trees throughout the season, as demonstrated by the less negative pressure. Trees that are less impacted by water stress will have improved productivity in both current and subsequent years.
INCREASED YIELD
ALMOND FIELD TRIAL ‘BUTTE’
CALIFORNIA, USA
In this alternate bearing variety, applying APH™ seaweed extract resulted in an increased yield in both years. The difference in total yield during this period was statistically significant.
