Table Grapes
As with other crops, applications of Acadian Plant Health™ (APH™) seaweed extract during the establishment of vines increase root and shoot growth, resulting in stronger vines with the ability to take up more nutrients and water. APH™ seaweed extracts also improve grape quality by increasing rachis length, which improves airflow around the fruit and spray penetration. In addition, APH™ seaweed extracts help vines overcome abiotic stresses.
BENEFITS FOR TABLE GRAPES INCLUDE:
- Increased rachis length
- Improved firmness
- Enhanced tolerance to environmental stresses
- Increased nutrient uptake
- Improved overall yield and quality

IMPROVED RACHIS STRETCH
TABLE GRAPE TRIAL ‘CRIMSON’
CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES
This picture of Crimson grapes taken during a trial in California demonstrates how APH™ seaweed extract elongates the grape bunch. Larger, looser bunches contribute to grape quality by allowing better airflow and spray dispersion.
IMPROVED BERRY SIZE
TABLE GRAPE TRIALS
VARIOUS LOCATIONS
In five trials on four different varieties, APH™ seaweed extract applications consistently increased berry weight, which indicates that the treated berries were larger.
IMPROVED BERRY FIRMNESS
TABLE GRAPE TRIAL ‘CRIMSON’
CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES
Adding APH™ seaweed extract to the standard program increases grapes firmness. In this trial on Crimson table grapes, grape firmness increased by 16%. Firmer berries are of better quality and have a potential for longer shelf life in storage.
IMPROVED QUALITY IN STORAGE
TABLE GRAPE TRIAL ‘RUBY SEEDLESS’
CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES
Grapes from vines treated with APH™ seaweed extract held up better in storage. There was less shatter from the treated bunches and their stems remained green after 37 days in cold storage. Stems that remain green indicate less water loss and a healthy vascular attachment.
IMPROVED YIELD
TABLE GRAPE ‘RED GLOBE’
SAN JUAN, ARGENTINA
Better uptake of nutrients, more room for the berries to grow and less stress lead to increased table grape yield. In this trial, vines treated with APH™ seaweed extract produced 8.6% more yield. In addition, more of the grapes produced were of the high paying First Quality – there were 29% more quality berries harvested from the treated plots.
